Welcome to my website

Simplicity often reveals complexity beneath.1

Hello! I’m happy you could join me.

This is my website. I’ve always wanted to have a personalized digital space to jot down my thoughts, park my creative endeavors, and generally represent who I am.

I designed this website with a clean, retro-tech aesthetic to encapsulate my feels toward modern technology. Newer operating systems do too much in my opinion, where functionality and simplicity can exist without sacrificing style. I’m inspired by tech like the vector graphics Asteroids arcade game and classic Windows 95 that utilize rigid lines and simplistic shapes. The monospaced typewriter effects incorporate motion and style that are familiar to computer operation.

What to Expect

The Olympus of social media functionality was Myspace’s customization with song lists and aesthetic tuning, whereas the outlets of today rely more on pretty pictures, rapid-fire reels, and accrued attention – alliteratively speaking. This led me to create a space to represent me as a person, rather than abiding by all social rules set by a billionaire in a cool T-shirt and a gold chain (yay!).

I want this site at its core to be a gallery of my film photos, a catalog of my favorite things, and an outlet for my thoughts. Anything else found here is a little treat.

My first endeavor for this site was creating the film photo gallery. In 2021, I got a Pentax K1000 at the Melrose Trading Post, dreaming of an analog world while blissfully ignoring the obnoxious overtone of the situation. Post-COVID lockdowns, I craved a reason to get out in the changed world, and this camera gave me more than enough reason to do it. What I didn’t know was that the camera would help me notice more, focus in on some flowers, and generate moments out of the ordinary. After building a small portfolio, I created an Instagram page, which I promptly abandoned, and began filling up a physical album at home. So, here we are, in my digital repository!

Secondly, my favorites. I consider myself to be more of a neophiliac, so I constantly lose track of the media that I love. These lists will always be dynamic and growing with me.

neophiliac noun /ˌniː.oʊˈfɪl.i.æk/
1. A person with a strong enthusiasm for or obsession with novelty; one who is attracted to new things, ideas, styles, or experiences.

AI Philosophy

I used Anthropic’s Claude to assist me in building this site. I’m a software engineer by trade, but web development has consistently pushed me to the brink of insanity, so I’m grateful that AI is accessible and cheap at this point in time. I’m learning as I go.

Despite this, I despise AI-generate content like pictures or text, since it is often used in an attempt to trick people into thinking a human created it. Unless the context is summarization or formatting, I think AI-generated content is harmful, so I will stick to my own voice and Microsoft Word (thanks UCLA).

Welcome!
